Vital records of Sandwich (MA) has birthdate for Simeon H Cowin (only one child listed for Alpheus Cowin and Esther his Wife) as Aug 1830 (no day entered.) The censuses consistently imply his birth was later than that.

Simon's middle name, consistent with his mother's maiden name, is given in a 1920 passport application by George, his son. George lists his father as dead.
