Isaac VEAZIE
103
Following Lydia's death, it might appear that Isaac married his housekeeper, Sabury E Cole ("domestic", 1860; Sabrah C Veazie,"keeping house"; 1870). [Sabrah may be Miss Sabrah Cowan whose intent to marry Jonathan Cole was published 1824 Jan 26 in Corinna.] However, in 1880, a Sabra Cole, age 75, is a pauper inmate in the poorhouse run by David Dearborn in Corinna. It appears that the 1870 enumeration is misleading and Isaac and Sabrah were never married.
www.archive.org has a listing in "Changes in Name by Special Acts of the Legistlature of Maine, 1820-1895" for: "VEAZIE, Mary Ann, of Corina [sic], ch. surname to Knowles, 1854." Whether that Mary Ann and Mary Ann, the daughter of Isaac and Lydia Knowles Veazie, are the same is not known at this time.
Locations:
Lucinda and Mary Ann may have died before 1850 as Lucinda, who would have been age 15, and Mary Ann, who would have been age 12, do not appear in the 1850 census for Corinna.
Isaac is listed as a widower in the 1880 census.
