The marriage record for Josiah and Margaret lists Josiah as "of Michigan" and Margaret as "of Newburgh N. York." They were married by/or recorded by Charles Gorse.
A transcription of Oakland Co., MI, records1663 lists Jonah Barkley, born 1793 in New York, married in New York to spouse Margaret (born 1812 in NY), brother of Thomas Barkley, with children "James, Oliver, others," a farmer resident of Bloomfield. Those records also list Oliver Barkley, born 1849, with father "Jonah" and mother Margaret. From other information, it appears that the "Jonah" of the Oakland Co. records is a mistranscription of "Josiah."
Of Josiah, Moore2516 says he and Fanny, dau of John Haines, had "several children." Josiah, along with Daniel Wilkin, was appointed executor2539 to the estate of John B Haines, Fanny's father.
Durant2549 states Josiah emigrated October, 1825, from the state of New York, and purchased land on the southwest quarter of section 32, on the town line just east of the village of Franklin, where he (1877?) was "yet living in extreme old age."
Josiah signed his will5301 Aug 3, 1874, in Pontiac, Michigan. In his will, he states he was of Bloomfield, Oakland Co., MI, and age 81 yrs. His will mentions wife Margaret; sons Crawford, Byard, William H and Oliver; and daughters Mary E Vinton, Permelia Thorne, and Martha J Drake. The petition for probate mentions his death in Bloomfield, Oakland Co., MI, 12 Oct 1879. His will was proved Nov 17, 1879. Wife Margaret Barkley, executrix, presented the final account of his estate on Nov 5, 1880, and James A Jacobs, Judge of Probate, declared the estate settled.
Josiah died1520 in 1879 at the age of 87y 3 mos and 17 days. Durant also mentions that Josiah had two daughters, Mrs B A Thorne and Mrs Frank Drake, at that time living in Birmingham. Birmingham, MI, is just a few miles northeast of Franklin.
Moffat655 has the second wife of Josiah Barkley as Margaret Christ Potts without reference. As Margaret and Josiah were married at the ages of 36 and 55 respectively, it may be that Margaret was married previously to (unknown) Potts, and Christ or Crist was her maiden name.
The 1879 probate records5301 for Josiah Barkley has Margaret E Barkley as his wife and executrix.

findagrave.com840 has a memorial for Maria M Barkley, buried in Franklin Cem., Franklin, MI. There is no image of the gravestone to verify the information provided. The data has death 18 Jun 1859, lived 10 years, 4 months, 14 days; daughter of J and M Barkley. If that information is correct, then Maria was born about Jan 4, 1849. That death date is consistent with the lack of any records for Maria after the 1850 census.
