Married⁷⁷ 1918 Jun 23⁴⁸⁴⁷ at Cherryvale, KS⁴⁸⁴⁷. The wedding announcement⁴⁸⁴⁷ for Gusta and Ida states they were married at the home of Gusta's parents, Mr and Mrs J S Hout, 709 East Main. Rev E F Shank performed the ceremony. Their marriage license issuance⁵²⁵⁹ was reported on Jun 25, 1918 (Cherryvale, KS.)

Gusta's full name is listed²²¹ on his WWI draft registration card.

In 1900, Gusta Hout resided⁴⁸⁴² with his father, John Hout, and John's wife "Lavina E.," assumed to be his mother Laura. He is listed with a birth date of Nov 1885, consistent with his draft registration card.

On Jun 23, 1918, in Cherryvale, KS, Gusta married⁴⁸⁴⁷ Ida Lenehan.

In 1918, Gusta William Hout registered for the draft on Sep 12, in Cherryvale, Kansas. He was a self-employed oil broker/driller, apparently following in his father's footsteps regarding occupation, and Ida Hout is listed as his wife.

In 1920, Gus W Hout, wife Ida, and daughter Betty M, resided⁴⁸⁴³ in the household of Ida's father, Bartholomew "Lenahan." Gus is listed as and agent for oil and gas leases.

The genealogy chart⁷⁷ prepared by George S Veazie has the wife of "Gust H Hoyt" as Ida Lynaham. The marriage announcement⁴⁸⁴⁷ for Ida and Gusta has "Lenehan." A report of marriage licenses issued (The Evening Star, Independence, KS) has Gusta W Hout, age 34, and Ida Leneham(sic), age 29, both of Cherryvale.

In 1930, Ida and daughter Betty resided⁴⁸⁵⁰ (as a separate family) in the house of Fannie M Fishe. Ida is listed as married (at the age of 24), but Gusta is not listed therein.

Ida died^{92 840} in 1974, a resident of Wichita, Kansas. Her headstone⁸⁴⁰ reads: "Beloved Mother Ida Lenehan HOUT 1889 - 1974."
