The marriage of Samuel and Louisa is assumed from Louisa's death record²⁰²² in which she is listed as Louisa Veazie (Shumway). The records²⁰²³ of the First Baptist Church in North Adams, MA, list Louisa Veazie "Mrs Samuel Veazie." Samuel's birthyear and Louisa's birthyear (both calculated from their age at death), the census and birth/baptism records referenced are consistent with that assumption.

An 1865 affidavit⁴⁵¹³ by Samuel Veazie provides the information that Mary Veazie, Samuel's mother, married first John Murphy, and that he was their only child. Shortly following Samuel's birth, John Murphy died. His mother married second Harvey Efner. After his mother remarried, Samuel was adopted by "her brother, my uncle Samuel Veazie." Some genealogies have Samuel Veazie as the son of that Samuel Veazie and Rebecca Harrington. Without Samuel's affidavit, that assumption is logical, as several census records list this Samuel's birthplace as Massachusetts. In other census records, and in his death record, this Samuel's birthplace is listed as New York.

Per Samuel's death record²⁰²¹, he died of "Old Age" at the age of 76 years, 8 months. That implies a birthdate of 24 October 1807. That record also lists his birthplace as Schoharie Co., NY. Efner's affidavit⁴⁵⁰⁴ provides a logical reason why this Samuel Veazie, though born in New York, resided in Massachusetts from (at latest) 1850⁵¹¹ through his death in 1884.

Hillman⁸⁰⁰ has birthdate as 15 Jul 1808, the birthyear apparently coming from Samuel's tombstone (1808). Perhaps the "15 Jul" is an error on Ralph's part, or an interpretation of other unreferenced data (e.g., Shumway Genealogy²⁰³² has Samuel born Jul 15 1808 - without reference). As a footnote in Hillman's genealogy regarding this matter, he states Samuel's birthdate should be 24 Oct 1807.

Samuel worked all his life as a carpenter, as listed in the referenced censuses and in his death record.

In 1860, Elizabeth Shumway (Louisa's mother), age 82, born Connecticut, is listed⁴⁹⁷ in Samuel and Louisa's household. "Mrs. Shumway," age 87, a widow, born Massachusetts, is living ²⁰³⁴ with Samuel and Louisa in 1865.

Shumway Genealogy²⁰³² lists first two children who died in infancy.

Louisa Veazie died²⁰²² at the age of 84 yrs 6mos 16 da of "Billious Fever." Her birth date calculated from her age at death matches her birth record²⁰²⁶. Louisa was baptised²⁰²³ in the First Bapt Church, North Adams, in 1843.

Child 3. Martha

Listed more frequently as Eugenia or Eugenia M., Eugenia was baptized²⁰²³ 1854 in the North Adams (MA) First Bapt Church. In church and census records she is listed as the twin of Angelia. Interestingly, in the 1850 census⁵¹¹, she is listed as age 11, below her sister Angelia, listed as age 12. Eugenia was the informant for her twin sister Angelia's death certificate²⁰³¹

Listed more frequently as Angelia or Angelia M., Mary Angelia Veazie was baptized²⁰²³ 1854 at the North Adams (MA) First Bapt Church.
