Herman moved to Plymouth, WI, in 1907. He and his brothers established the Torke Bros Implment Co, and the Torke Bros Garage. He also operated the Torke Taxi Service before he retired in 1956. He married Cora in 1912. Following her death, he married Alma M Schmitt in 1918. Following Alma's death, he married Amanda H Naumann in 1947. He died at his home of a heart attack. Donald Holzshuh and Alroy Vater were among the pall bearers at his funeral. Besides the daughters of Herman and Cora, Herman also had children: Bernice (Mrs James Sloan) and Elmer.

Shortly after her marriage to Herman, Cora died suddenly²¹⁰² at her home in Plymouth.
