"History of Monroe County, Michigan" (Talcott Enoch Wing, pub 1890; New York, Munsell & company; archive.org) has: Eli served during the Civil War in the 18th Michigan Infantry Regiment, Company K. He was discharged for disability, June 9, 1863. Rosaline Trombly filed(www.ancestry.com) for a Civil War pension, in Michigan, on July 20, 1910, as a widow.

In 1860, Eli Trombly was a laborer working for Edwin Vesey. By 1870, Eli had married Edwin's daughter Rosaline and had a farm adjacent to Edwin's. Following Eli's death, Rosaline lived with her son Milton and his wife Blanche.

Rosaline died⁴⁵¹³ at the age of 77y 5m 24d, at home in Summerfield Twp, Michigan, of paralysis. The informant for her death certificate was Mrs Joseph Shaner (her daughter) of Petersburg, Mich.
