In 1900, William's occupation was chemist. In his 1918 passport application645, conveniently for genealogists, he lists his residences and dates: Goshen, IN, 1862-1892; Chicago, IL, 1892-196; New York city, NY, 1916 to date (1918). In his 1920 passport application645 for a trip to Cuba, he stated his occupation as 'shipping.' That application lists his birthdate, birthplace and father. In the 1930 census, William is listed by his full name in a rooming house in the same block of West 80th Street where he and son John B Vesey were located in 1920.
In 1925, Belle B Vezey (sic) resided with her daughter Esther V Whiteside, and Eshter's husband Horace E Whiteside.
In 1940, Belle Vesey was an inmate at Willard State Hospital, Ithaca, NY. Mt Hope cemetery records5421 has Belle Vesey, interred Sept? 27, 1943; age 79, died of chronic myocarditis, Willard, NY; remarks: "crematory, scattered 9-28-43."
