Family of David Howard BOWER and Annie E VEAZIE

David Howard BOWER b. 1894 Jan 4221 at Pleasant Valley, NY221. d. 1990 Nov 292. bd. Rush Lake Cem., Curlew, IA840.
Annie E VEAZIE b. 1889 Sep 11643 at Washington Twp., Pocahontas Co., IA1643. d. 1974 Feb 212358 at Palo Alto Hospital, Emmetsburg, IA2358. bd. Rush Lake Cem., Curlew, IA840.

Married2356 1927 Feb 242356 at the Christian church parsonage, Laurens, IA2356.

The marriage announcement referenced was a republished announcement of the Laurens (IA) Sun newspaper. The announcement stated that the marriage occurred "a week ago last Thursday." "Last Thursday" would've been March 3, and a week before that would have been February 24. David and Annie were married by Rev. W. H. Knotts.

Annie herself provides2786 further details that the witnesses to their marriage were Mrs. Knotts, and Mr and Mrs A E Woodard.

In 1900, David is listed as "D Howard." In other records he is listed as "David H." David served in France during World War One, having enlisted1681 in the Army 21 Sep 1917, and released 10 May 1919. He soon thereafter emigrated to Iowa. Both before and after his military service, David was a farmer.

In David's WWII draft registration170, he lists his employer as "Self employed," Curlew, Palo Alto County, Iowa. He listed Mrs Annie Bower as a person who knows his address.

Annie was born Sept 1, 1889, in Washington Twp., Pocahontas Co., IA, to "E Vezie" and "Alma Woodard Vezie." In the 1910 and 1920 censuses, Annie is listed with parents Elijah and Amber, listed as a school teacher. She attended Tobin College in Fort Dodge and Moody Bible Institute (Chicago). At the time of her death, she had 10 grandchildren, and all her siblings, but one sister, Caroline (Veazie) Bishop, survived her.

Much is known about Annie and her relatives as she wrote a family history2786, a portion of which (copy) was provided to the author by Annie's distant cousin. That history solved several "mysteries" about Veazies who couldn't definitively be connected to the family without Annie's information.
