Byard and Lucetta were married1662 by William E Whitney, J.P. Witnesses were Henry F Fair[sic] and Sanford Hines[sic].
Byard's initial H is listed in the 1860 and 1880 censuses. In 1860, Marcus H Barkley, age 17, b NY, is listed with him. In 1870, he is listed in the household of Stephen and Charlott Wakeman, age 58, farm worker, b NY. He is enumerated in the 1880 census as "Barkley H Byard," age 67, widowed, farmer, b NY, parents both born NY. John Barkley2582 has "Byard Haines Barkley." In 1870, "Lucretia" Barkley, age 64, born New York, stocking knitter, is living in the household of Henry F and Jane Farr. Henry was a witness for Lucetta's marriage to Byard. In 1880, Byard is listed as widowed. "Lusetta" Barkley is buried on the same lot with Henry F and Jane Farr.

In 1860, Marcus was living with his father. No others are listed in the household. Marcus' father Byard H Barckley filed1007 for Marcus' service in the Michigan 16th Infantry Jun 12 1874. Marcus, age 19, resident of Lowell, MI, had enlisted as a private in Company C, Michigan 16th Infantry Regiment on 9 Dec 1861. He mustered out1007 on 6 Aug 1862 at Harrison's Landing, VA, which was, in fact, the date2583 of his death.
