Family of Otis Clarence VEAZIE and Laura Mildred KINNEY

Otis Clarence VEAZIE b. 1888 Jan 5221 at Islesboro, ME221. d. 1968 Feb 152683 at Fort Worth, TX92. bd. Greenwood Cem., Fort Worth, TX2683.
Laura Mildred KINNEY b. 1890 Nov2688 at Iowa2688. d. 1917~221.

Married2687 1912 May 132687 at Des Moines, IA2687.

It appears that some time before 1910, Otis began working in Des Moines, Iowa, as advertisements for the renting of rooms and houses by "O. C. Veazie," located in the Iowa Loan and Trust Building, appear in the Des Moines Register newspaper (newspapers.com) in 1909. In 1910, those advertisements where placed by "O. C. Veazie & Co.," same address as mentioned above. Later that year, similar advertisements appeared with only "Call Veazie" followed by a phone number. In early 1912, advertisements for building lots began appearing, by "O. C. Veazie, Owner." Similar advertisements continued through 1914. In April of 1914, an article (advertisement?) appears, describing O C Veazie of the Iowa Building Company, who was building houses in various locations. Veazie was described as "formerly [the] manager of the Realty Clearing House Co." In 1916 appeared an advertisement for "Veazie Apartments," located at 28th and Ingersoll. The agent for the rentals was "Iowa Bldg. Co."

Otis married Laura Kinney in Des Moines, in 1912. Otis Veazie's WWI draft registration card221, Jun 1917, states that he is a widower and supports a child and both his parents. By 1920, Otis had married Halleen Elizabeth Haworth. In Jan, 1939, Halleen was granted a divorce2690 from Otis. In 1940, Otis was living with A M and Rosa Farris in Fort Worth. He was listed as a real estate building contractor, divorced. His death certificate2683 lists him as married, lists his father as Marcellus Veazie and his mother as Sabrina Parker (his grandmother's name). Otis died of congestive heart failure. That certificate indicates he did not serve in the armed forces.

Laura lived with her parents in 1900. She was living with an aunt in 1910. From 1912 through 1916, she was listed in the Des Moines, IA, city directory. In 1917, her husband Otis listed himself in his WWI draft registration as a widower.

Child 1. Clark

That Clark is the son of Otis Veazie and Laura Kinney is largely circumstantial. The 1915 Iowa census669 has each person listed individually on cards. However, the cards for O C Veazie, Laura M Vezie and Clark W Vezie lists the PO adr for each as "671-38." In addition, the card for Clark lists his father as born Maine and mother born Iowa. In 1917, Otis Veazie's WWI draft registration lists him as a widower with one child.

Children of Otis Clarence VEAZIE and Laura Mildred KINNEY:
