Emma and George were married by Franklin Johnson, pastor. The marriage record lists Emma's parents as Benj G and Julia A.
In 1850, George is enumerated in Aug as age 3 months. The 1877 marriage record4009 for George and Emma lists his occupation as "Asst Librarian." In the 1880 census2706, he is listed as Asst Librarian, law library. In that year, several law students are boarding in the household.
The 1893 publication of the Harvard Law Review2710 lauds John H Arnold and his brother George A Arnold, Librarian and Assistant-Librarian respectively, in their twenty-first year of service to the library, for improving the library to a condition which makes it as perfectly adapted to its purpose as any library in the United States.
George died1774 Dec 29, 1893, in Cambridge, of pneumonia. His birthdate is calculated from his age1774 at death: 43y 10m 3d, and matches the birth date appearing on his headstone840 (from the image.) His death was reported2711 the following day in the Boston Evening Transcript.
Emma's obituary (Boston Herald, Jan 27, 1932, p 13; genealogybank.com) mentions "Mrs Emma Veazie Arnold" as widow of George A Arnold; born in Randolph in 1849, daughter of Benjamin G and Sally Curtis Veazie; graduate of Bridgewater Normal school; taught until her 1877 marriage; leaving 4 daughters: Mrs Rufus S Miles of Columbus, OH, Mrs Charles F Chase of New Britain, CT, Mrs Charles F Duten [Dutch] of Winchester, and Mrs Huntley Abbott of Scarborough, NY; one son Robert V Arnold of Ridgewood, NJ; a sister Miss Ella B Veazie of San Francisco.
"Emma F" is this child's name in her birth record. In 1850, she is listed as Eunice. In 1860, she is "Emma." She may be the Emma Vezie, age 20, attending school, residing in Bridgewater, MA, in the household of Sally Washburn.
In 1920, Emma resided4857 with her daughter Margaret in the household of Margaret's husband, Hunley Abbott. In 1930, Emma was living with her daughter Mabel and Mabel's husband, Rufus Miles, in Columbus, OH.
The headstone840 (from the image) of Emma Veazie Arnold has her birthdate as Oct 24, 1849. The Randolph VR are preferred.
