A birth record²⁶³⁵ for an unnamed male "Vanzant," born 28 Jun 1873, Hoboken, NJ, lists the child's father as "Ruthven Vanzant." He lived with his parents in 1880. Around 1891, he married Inez Taylor. Francis' occupation was bookkeeper/clerk for a tobacco company. His WWI draft registration²²¹ identifies that company as P Lorillard.

In 1921, Mrs Eva Van Zandt, of Jersey City, visited⁴²⁸⁶ her sister, Mrs Ella Northrop (Branchville, NJ).
