A 1929 newspaper article³¹⁰⁶ (Harrisonburg, VA) mentions Mr and Mrs Thurston DeMasters of Mt. Airy, NC, visiting her mother, Mrs Cora Veazie. The 1930 census³¹⁰⁴ for Mt Airy, NC, lists Thurston and Mary F DeMasters, both married since their last birthday. I.e., Thurston DeMasters, age 28, married age 28; Mary F DeMasters, age 20 (sic), married age 20. As other information indicates Mary Frances was born ~1914, one wonders if she intentionally lied about her age as it appears she was married at the age of about 15 years of age!

Thurston's middle name is given³¹⁰⁷ in son Tyrone's obituary. The SSDI⁹² lists Thurston's birthdate as Sep 23, 1900.

Mary's middle name is given in the obituary³⁰⁷⁷ of her half-sister Estelle Veazie, and in the interment report³¹¹⁵ for Elk Run Cem. Mary F Veazie was living³⁰⁷⁸ with her parents in Elkton, VA, in 1920. In 1929, she married Thurston DeMasters. The marriage and marriage date is established by the 1930 census³¹⁰⁴ for Mount Airy, NC, in which Thurston and Mary F DeMasters are listed as married at their current ages - 1929-1930; a 1929 Harrisonburg, VA, newspaper article³¹⁰⁶ mentions "Mr. and Mrs. Thurston DeMasters of Mt. Airy, N. C., are spending the Christmas season with her mother, Mrs. Cora Veazie."
