The (Hagerstown, MD) Morning Herald, Jan 20, 1950, dateline Port Au Prince, Haiti, Jan 19 (AP), reported the case of a young woman whose family had decided she was dead, but was found breathing when her coffin was opened when noises were heard inside on the way to the church for the funeral. The priest ordered the girl rushed to the hospital. Dr Paul Desmangles, head of the hospital staff determined that her illness was a type of malaria, and she regained full consciousness three days after her "funeral."
