Married1728 1911 Apr 251728 at Rome, NY1728. Mr and Mrs L N Flack (Ernestine's brother-in-law and sister) were the witnesses for the marriage. The license was dated Apr 22, 1911.

Charles' middle name appears221 on his June 5, 1917, WWI draft registration card. At that time, he was a self-employed carpenter contractor, residing at 214 Expense, Rome, NY, married with a wife and two children.

The Rome (NY) Daily Sentinel, Jun 29, 1912, in a report on the alumni of the R. F. A. (Rome Free Academy), regarding marriages by members of the Academy, mentioned Charles M Hermann, 1905, married M. Ernestine Hayden, April 26, 1911. The marriage certificate is preferred for their date of marriage.

The gravestone for Charles M Hermann has only "1887 - 1918."

The U S Social Security Application3346 for Doris Herrman Grow lists her mother as Myra E Hayden.

Appearing as Ernestine in the 1900 census1865, when she lived with her parents, and as Ernestine on her marriage license and certificate for her marriage to Charles Herrman, she appears in several census records and her obituary4721 as "M. Ernestine …"

Ernestine suffered a stroke4721 Nov 7, 1935, apparently attributing to her sudden death at the age of 51 on Feb 1 of the following year. She was a member o the Zion Episcopal Church and, earlier in her life, played the organ of that church.

In 1915, Marion resided4720 with her parents. At the time of the 1920 and 1930 censuses, Marion is found residing4716 in the household of her grandparents, Charles W and Mahala Herrman, 301 Expense St, Rome, NY. Newspaper articles (fultonhistory.com) indicate that Marion was librarian of the Rome (NY) Free Academy and, circa 1945, Senior High School in Rome. She is mentioned as advisor to the Library Council of Rome Free Academy in a June 8, 1948, article in the (Rome, NY) Daily Sentinel (fultonhistory.com). She is perhaps the Marion J Herrman, teacher Gansevoort School, residence 804 Symonds (Utica), listed in the 1959 city directory for Rome, NY (www.ancestry.com). No further information.
