N.B. Records for Stephen Loring Veazie's family (births, deaths, etc.) variously indicate Camden and Rockport as the place of the event. His birth record⁶⁰¹¹ in image from Rockport Maine vital records has "Loring". Loring Veazie (as he seems to be called in most references) had the occupation of house carpenter and ship's carpenter. In 1860, "Loring S. Veazie," age 41, house carpenter, is listed in the household of Moses H Gragg in Boston. Dow⁴⁶⁹ and Hillman⁸⁰⁰ have death date as Jan 30. He was married at the time of his death of pneumonia.

Catherine's birthdate is calculated for her age at death: 89y --m 6d. Dow⁴⁹⁶ has death date 20 May but that may be a typo as he elsewhere has birthdate as listed herein. Her death record²²⁰⁴ lists the father of Catherine S Veazie as Larkin Thorndike, and identifies her as the widow of S Loring Veazie.

Child 1. Leland

Dow (without reference) has Leland Veazie as a son of Stephen and Catherine Veazie. It may be that Reuben L Veazie, b 1860, d 1862, is Reuben Leland.

Child 2. George

An image of the testimony³¹³⁸ for a Seaman's Protection, dated 27 Mar 1855, Parish Orleans, LA, indicates that George Veazie, being duly sworn, states he is a native of Rockland, Maine, was a citizen of the United States, aged 16 years, dark complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, 5 foot 6 inches in height, and has no protection as an American Seaman. Additional testimonry was recorded for John H Wilson who was "well acquainted" with said George Veazie (same date). A similar certificate for John H Wilson, a native of St George, Maine, age 18, same date, has testimony by George Veazie.

Child 3. Mary

Dow gives Stephen Loring Veazie a daughter "Adella" and says Adella never married. Res. Rockport. Mary Adella Veazie died²²⁰⁴ in 1873, place not indicated. The image of her headstone (findagrave.com) provides: died Jan. 30, 1873, age 31 yrs, 11 mos, 9 days.

Child 7. ReubenDow has "Leland died as a boy. He fell from a tree." Reuben L Veazie appears in the 1860 census and, apparently, no later. "Leland" may well be Reuben.
