In 1860, Rufus and wife Lucinda are living in a household with no children listed. Rufus isn't found in the 1870 census. Perhaps he was at sea as he was a mariner. In 1877, listed as a seaman, his residence was on Lawrence st, Rockland, ME. In 1880, Rufus, Mary, 2 children from Mary's previous marriage, and the 2 children of Rufus and Mary are listed in Rockland. In 1900, his second wife Mary was a widow. Hillman⁸⁰⁰ has his death 28 Dec 1882 at Rockland.
