Alva's full name appears in the marriage license1728 for his marriage to La France Davidson.
It's not clear what happened with Alva's first marriage to La France Davidson. Their engagement was announced [ Corning (NY) Evening Leader, Tue, Sep 21, 1920, front page ] by her parents, Mr and Mrs Frank R Davidson of Hartshorn St, Sep 21, 1920. They were married1728 [ Corning (NY) Evening Leader ] Sep 28 or 29th in Hornell, at the South Side Baptist Church, and was well-attended. However, in 1925, Alva, age 26, resided2528 in what appears to be a rooming house, listed immediately below Elizabeth Williamson, age 46, assumed to be his mother. In 1930, Alva, age 35, resided1178 in what appears to be a rooming house, listing himself as married at the age of 25, but his wife doesn't seem to appear.
A marriage license application1728, dated 20 Jun 1933, Hornell, NY, lists La France Gertrude Davidson, dau of Frank and Rose (Smith) Davidson, her second marriage. However, her first marriage is listed as a divorce from Arthur J Loveland, Sep 1930, Buffalo, NY. Her groom-to-be was William A McColumn. In 1925, Arthur J and LaFrance G Loveland resided in Stockton, NY.
Whether La France Isabel Davidson (as listed on the marriage license), dau of Frank and Rose (Smith) Davidson, that married Alva Williamson, is the same La France Gertrude Davidson (as listed on the marriage license), dau of Frank and Rose (Smith) Davidson, that divorced Arthur J Loveland in 1930, and married William McCollumn in 1933 isn't entirely clear.
However, Alva married5486 in 1938, Ann Leonna De Lany. They appear2530 in the 1940 census as husband and wife, with daughter Ann, age 15, (apparently dau of his first wife), and Ann's father John Delaney residing with them.
Alva worked generally as a painter most of his life. He died5702 in Rochester, NY, after a fall in the home of Joseph Lyons whom he was visiting. He was survived by his wife, and daughter Ann Masterson of Anchorage, Alaska.
Ann Leonna Delany Williamson died4760 of cancer at the home of her daughter, 4903 McGregor, El Paso, TX. She was the daughter of John James De Lany and Belle Dickey. The informant for her death certificate was "daughter" Mrs Anne Masterson.
