A son "John" is mentioned5752 in the 1822 will of John Williamson (wife Mary). John's birth date is provided in a church record5645 for John, bapt. June 18, 1786, born March 23, 1786, his parents' names listed as: John Williamson and Mary Passage. A man named John Williamson married Ada Finch and had children as indicated in this profile. However, at this time, the latter person is assumed to be the John Williamson of this profile only from circumstantial evidence. That is, his location in 18505724, Knox, Albany Co., NY, is consistent with his birth place, and locations for his siblings. It should be noted that the approximate birth years indicated in the cited records are consistently 2 or 3 years later than the date in his birth record.
In the 1865 census5761, John is listed as the father of 9 children. At present, only 5 of his children have clearly been identified.
Ada(h) Williamson appears as the (assumed) wife of John Williamson in the 1850 census5724 as "Eddy" (age 56), and in the 1855 census5758 as "Adah" (age 61).
Adah's maiden name is provided by the death certificate5763 of (son) John Williamson, born 1822 in "N. Y. state," and died Jan 19, 1917. That John's parents are given as John Williamson and Adah Finch.
The headstone840 for Ada Finch Willliamson reads: "Ada Finch / Wife of / John Williamson / died Aug 18, 1859 / Aged 65 Years / 4[?] Months / & 21 Days." Her birthdate is calculated from that information.
Ada does not appear in the 1860 census5759 with John and children Hiram, Sarah, Harriet and Foster, which is consistent with the date date appearing on her headstone. Her place of death is assumed from her appearance5758 with her family in Schoharie County in the 1855 census, and the family's appearance in the same location5758 in 1860.
