Sarah is likely the Sarah Sargent of the 1850 census5544 for Cornwall, NY, age 54, with James Sargent, age 23, residing with her. She may also be the Sarah Sergeant, age 61, widow, born Orange (county), of the 1855 census5545 for Cornwall, resident of town 14 years. That may indicate that Sarah moved from New York city to Cornwall about 1841. In that census record, she resided in the household of Langford T? and Margaret Ryder, and several of the Ryder children and grandchildren. Whether Sarah is related to the Ryder family hasn't been determined.
From an obituary5610 for Rachel Jones and Sarah Sargent, which states Rachel and Sarah were sisters, dated Feb 19, 1864: "Mrs Sargent [aged] sixty eight … died on Wednesday and will be buried on Saturday."
