Married5906 1899 Oct 125906 at Bath, NY5906. Following Louisa (McGowan) Blunt's death, John Blunt married5906 second Miss E J Ansley, of Jersulalem, at the home of Chas E Shattuck (his son-in-law). The ceremony was performed by Rev M R Chapman, of Buffalo.
John's obituary5913 mentions his father, George Blunt, and his seven siblings. The 1897 obituary5912 of John's father, George Blunt, mentions his predeceased wife, nee Betsey Hecock, and six surviving children: George, Perry, John, Reuben, Amos and Catherine (Smith).
In 1850, the family of George and Elizabeth Blunt resided4038 in Bath, NY. Residing with them were 7 of their eight children.
As described in his obituary, John's family was a family of soldiers. John himself was a veteran, serving in the 50th Engineer Brigade with his brothers Perry and Henry. Henry died in a hospital in New York City in 1862. His brother Joseph was killed in the battle at Sabine Cross Roads, Louisiana, in 1864. John's surviving brother George had spent over 300 days in a Confederate prison in Texas.
John died5909 at the age of 73 years, in Keuka Park, NY. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having fought in numerous engagements. He was survived by his widow; his daughter Mrs (Rozalia) Shattuck; two sons and a brother. He was buried in Bradford Cemetery.
