Married²²⁰⁴ 1814 Nov 1²²⁰⁴ at Portland, ME²²⁰⁴. Augusta and John were married by Rev Edward Payson of Portland. The marriage intention was filed Oct 16, 1814.

Regarding John Hunt, McLellan⁴⁵⁸⁶ states John was a sea captain, and "died in New Orleans many years since, leaving his wife and one daughter."

Augsuta Hilton "of Thomas" was baptised⁵⁹⁹⁵ Jun 9, 1793, in the First Church of Falmouth (now Portland, Maine).

An intention of marriage [ fhl film #12021, item 1; dgs 7595805; Record of intentions, marrage returns, v. 4 1814-1855. p 3 of the original] was published in Portland, 1814: "John Hunt entered his intention of marriage with Augusta Hilton both of Portland - Oct. 15th 1814." The (Portland, Maine) Gazette [genealogybank.com], Mon, Nov 14, 1814, p 3, reported: "Married … In this town, by the Rev. R. Payton, Capt. John Hunt, to Miss Augusta Hilton."

Augusta may be the "Augusta Hunt" who published a card of thanks [Portland (Maine) Advertiser, Tue, Jan 26, 1830, p 1]: "A Card. The undersigned begs the Gentlemen to accept of her thanks in their attentions in removing her goods when in danger, by the fire in Middle Street, on Wednesday evening last. Jan. 15. Augusta Hunt."

McLellan⁴⁵⁸⁶ has John Hunt md "Augusta (Hilton) Shaw, widow of Capt. Sam'l Shaw," certainly an error, likely confusing Augusta with her mother, Rachel (Veazie) Hilton Shaw.
