In 1870, daughter Harriet, assumed to be their oldest child, was 39 years of age. Their marriage date is estimated from that.
In 1850, although enumerated as "Hart" rather than Kent, Sylvester was a mason. In 1860, Sylvester was a mason by occupation. Children Harriet, Milton, Amanda, William, Sylvester and Jane, listed in his household, are assumed to be their children, particularly as Elizabeth and Barclay Kent with appropriate ages are enumerated with Jane's father in 1850. In 1870, Sylvester was still practicing brick masonry as his trade. His death index entry lists Sylvester as married and his occupation as mason.
In 18501231, Elizabeth (age 14) and Barclay (age 10) Kent are listed in the household of Jane's father Joseph. It is assumed that those are the children of Sylvester and Jane.
