Married⁷⁶. G. W. Bideler will abstract lists Maria A. Bideler, ch of John Bideler, married name Hough 2nd (or greater) marriage for Charles: 1880 Census NY Campbell household of Charles B. Hough Maria A. Hough, age 53 {~1827}; b NY; fath b PA; moth b Connecticut; occ: keeping house; md Nelly V. Hough, age 11 {~1869}; Stepdaughter; fath b NY; moth b Illinois; occ: at school; single If Nelly's mother b Illinois then Maria A. not her mother. She's a stepdaughter to Charles so might be a daughter of prev wife where prev wife was prev married.

Among the children of John "Biedler" mentioned in the 1879 will⁷⁶ of George Bideler is Maria A Hough of Campbell (NY). Though her husband's name is not mentioned, Maria A Hough appears in the 1880 census¹⁴⁵⁷ for Campbell, NY, as the wife of Charles B Hough. Residing with them was Nelly V Hough, age 11, "stepdaughter," born NY, father born NY, mother born Illinois. That is likely an enumeration error and Nelly was born in Illinois, and her parents both born New York.

Ann M Rumsey appears in the 1855 census⁷³ for Campbell, NY, residing in the household of John and Lucy A Bidler(sic). She was age 28, born in Steuben Co., married and listed as a child of John. Also residing in that household was John Rumsey, age 3, a grandchild of John Bideler, born in Illinois. Also, in 1855, Elvia Rumsey, age 6?, born Illinois, resided with Maria's uncle George Bideler, listed as "cousin."

With that information, one finds in the 1850 census⁵⁰¹⁰ for Chemung, Illinois, the family of Benjamin Rumsey, age 28, born in New York. Residing with him were Maria Rumsey, age 22, born New York; Alvira Rumsey, age 8, born Illinois; and John H Rumsey, age 1, born in Illinois.

So it appears that Maria Ann Bideler married first in the late 1840s, Benjamin Rumsey of New York.
