Married1523 1915 Feb 231523 at Detroit, MI1523. The marriage license was granted Feb 23, 1915. The day of the month in the marriage date of the record isn't clear, and appears to be "23."
A Mar 5, 1915, marriage announcement4604 states they were married "a week ago," and "last Monday." Perhaps an error, that announcement indicates they were married Feb 22.
They were married by J M Barkley, Minister; witnesses were G D Murray and Elizabeth Fenlayson?, both of Detroit.
Wenzel and Mabel were first cousins, once removed, both descendants of William Vesey, Jr (1801-1872). That is, Wenzel was the son of Sylvester Treat Vesey, Mabel's first cousin. This was Mabel's second marriage, and Wenzel's first marriage.
Wenzel's middle name is listed221 on his WWI draft registration card. Wenzel resided with his parents in 1900 and 1910 in Milford, IN. In 1917, Wenzel lists221 his occupation as Superintendant of the pyrometer and electrical department of the Ford Motor Company, Highland Park, MI. In 1920, he and wife Mabel resided1557 in Detroit, MI, listed as an electrical engineer. Residing at the same address that year was his cousin Lloyd Vesey, Lloyd's wife Catherine and Lloyd's brother Vern.
Wenzel died4612 at the age of 39y 10m 16d, of edema of the lungs. He was an electrical engineer for the Ford Motor Car Co. Mrs (Mabel) Vesey was the informant for his death certificate.
Mabel was married first in 1902 to Horace Breiding. Following their divorce, Mabel Vesey, status divorced, appears2090 in the 1910 census in Goshen, Indiana, residing with her mother Fanny, and Fanny's second husband, Henry Vesey (the brother of Mabel's father Edgar Vesey).
A news article (Goshen, IN, Weekly News Times, Jul 11, 1913) mentions that a position of sales lady under the employ of Miss Blanche Davis, milliner, was made vacant by the departure of Miss Mabel Vesey, "who is now in Brownsville, Neb."
Following husband Wenzel Vesey's death, Mabel, a widow, appears1713 in the 1930 census, residing at 16587 Linwood in Detroit, MI.
The 1962 obituary3158 of Mabel's brother Lloyd mentions surviving sisters Mrs Mabel Gutteridge of Detroit, and Mrs Irene Ewing of Pasadena, California.
